Scrapbooks

Do you have a scrapbook made by a family member? Does it have photos and documents in it that you don't want to remove for fear of damaging them? Or do you have a bound book that you don’t want undone, but would like digitized? Allegheny Archives & Media can digitize these books for you!

We will NOT take the book apart. Instead, we will provide you with a high-resolution photo of every page and every photograph! At Allegheny Archives & Media, we will treat your scrapbook as if they were our own family heirlooms.

What do we do with your scrapbook or bound document?

Your scrapbook will be kept in a safe environment and the time it takes to digitize them will vary on the size of the book.

We DO NOT take the scrapbook apart and we DO NOT take photos out from the pages. We simply take high-resolution photos under studio lights to provide you with a page by page, photo by photo digitization of your item.

After we have digitized everything in your collection, we will place the PDF files onto a USB flash drive. Each order receives one flash drive. Extra flash drives come at an additional fee.

Prices are dependent on book and book size. Generally, we price family scrapbooks at $250. Any larger, bound volumes are items we need to see to give you a free estimate.

This is my Grandpa Walter's scrapbook that documents his time on the U.S.S. Santa Fe in World War II. It is extremely fragile, but I've been able to digitize the pages and photos.

This is my Great Aunt Gwen's scrapbook circa the early 1900s. Though worn and fragile, I've preserved its contents by digitizing each page and photo.
